His first heat on Golden Child was the final, and after winning that contest, Joel continued on to become champion at both Bells and JBay too.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWhenever conditions suited that year the Golden Child came out, the result was always the same. Joel never lost a heat. It eventually went straight up on the wall at our Kirra factory as a trophy representing the pinnacle of fast, intuitive and powerful surfing. Golden Child is based on the original file from 2009, but with cutting edge influence from today on the deck roll and rails. It’s ridden approximately 1-2 inches longer than your regular everyday shortboard, and either the same width or 1\/8” narrower.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe Baron Flyer\u003c\/strong\u003e has foam in all the right places to float over soft sections and fly down the line, yet still allow you to lay it on rail or bust the fins even when you’re going Mach 10.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSlightly more curve than the original Black Baron ensures you’ve got enough rocker to fit right in the pocket, yet still generate and maintain plenty of speed. This is complemented by a moderate single concave running into double concave, providing extra lift and liveliness, and complemented by a balanced, manoeuvrable plan shape. The other main change is an even flatter deck, with low rails. And of course, the round tail with a flyer allows us to maintain more width through the middle but with a relatively pulled in tail. This means it’s a deeper concave in the middle, with slightly shallower concave in the nose and tail to help with water flow for maximum drive.
